Cedar Hill: A Tour Behind the Scenes

Since its establishment in 1864, Hartford's famous Cedar Hill has become a significant resource for the preservation not only of a stunning historic landscape and greenspace but also of Hartford's historic roots and colorful history.  Join long-time board member Russ Jones for an informal stroll 'Behind the Scenes.' This tour will begin at the Chapel. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Mystery Scavenger Hunt

Retrieve and follow clues that have you traversing Cedar Hill's historic grounds in search of the answers to a mystery. This family-friendly event is a race to the finish and includes prizes for those who can solve the mystery the fastest.

Cedar Hill Symbols Tour

Do you know what a broken column or a butterfly signify in mortuary art? Join Connecticut Gravestone Network's Ruth Brown to find out. Ms Brown will lead you on a stroll through Cedar Hill Cemetery in search of mortuary art iconography. She will discuss their origins, the social trends and religions that influenced the iconography, and their meanings.

Enjoy an afternoon stroll through Cedar Hill’s historic sections while learning about some of our most notable residents, including Samuel and Elizabeth Colt, John Peirpont Morgan and Katharine Hepburn. Please RSVP for this tour by noon the previous Wednesday.

Communicating with Connecticut’s Ghosts

Have you ever wanted to communicate with someone on the other side?  Elaine Kuzmeskus, director of the New England School of Metaphysics, will discuss the art of mediumship and how to communicate effectively with spirits.  Elaine’s presentation will be followed by a gallery reading. Autumn at Cedar Hill is breathtaking. Join tree expert Ed Richardson as he leads you on a tour of Cedar Hill’s expansive tree population.  From rare trees to state champions, this tour is sure to be enjoyed by any and all nature lovers.

Haunted History Lantern Tour

Ticket Sales: 6:30 pm - 8:30pm;
Tours: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

General Admission - $5.00 per person

Join us for Cedar Hill's most anticipated event of the year. Led by lantern light, groups of up to 30 people will be guided to the final resting places of some of Cedar Hill's most notable residents. At each site, character actors will share the lives and accomplishments of the residents. This is the only night during the year that the Cemetery is open to the public. This spirited event is sure to be enjoyable and memorable.
